GCSE Results 2024

Posted: 22nd August 2024

A school in mourning today celebrated a rise in GCSE results while remembering a much-loved student.

The community came together to not only discover how Year 11 had achieved in their GCSE exams, but to remember classmate Dishone Lloyd who died recently.

Headteacher Matt Carter said: “As we gather today at Mark Hall Academy to celebrate the achievements of our Year 11 students on this results day, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of pride in their achievements across all areas of the curriculum. This year group has demonstrated remarkable resilience, determination, and compassion.

“Beyond their academic success, I have seen how they have pulled together to support one another, particularly during the last week in the face of the tragic loss of Dishone Lloyd, a Year 11 student who was much loved throughout his year group and throughout the whole Mark Hall community.

“The strength and solidarity shown by his friends and the entire school community is a testament to the depth of their character and spirit.

“Today is about more than just results; it is about celebrating the courage, kindness, and unity that these young people embody. We are so proud of every one of them and wish them well in their next steps.”
